Pear Puff

Pear Puff
-Jen's Creation

Here's what you need:
  • Puff Pastry (This recipe will use only 1 sheet)
  • 3 Pears (I used Bartlett - peeled, cut in half, & de-seeded)
-Make sure they are ripe since too hard of a pear will not cook enough!
  • Lime Juice
  • 1/4 c. chopped Walnuts
  • 4 T. Brown Sugar
  • 2 t. Cinnamon
  • 1/4 c. Butter, softened
  • Heavy Cream for Whipping
  • Sugar(To make whipped cream - Beat heavy cream in mixing bowl on high until the desired consistency.  Add sugar to taste. Refrigerate until ready to serve.)

Here's what you do:

-Thaw puff pastry sheet according to package.  Then cut in two lengthwise
-Preheat oven to 400 Degrees
-Prepare the pears, rubbing a bit of lime juice on them to prevent browning
-On a buttered cookie sheet, or a sheet lined with Parchment paper, place the two, thawed pastry pieces, leaving 2" between
-Spread the butter evenly over the pastry sheets - Sprinkle Cinnamon, then Brown Sugar, diving the amounts between each
-Place 3 pears on each pastry sheet, alternating them (one pointing up, one down, etc.)
-Dot each pear with a bit more butter and sprinkle with a dusting of Cinnamon
-Bake for about 30 minutes or until the pears are tender and the pastry "puffed"
-During the last 10 minutes left, toss the chopped Walnuts over the pear puffs

-Cool for 15 minutes.  Cut each pastry into 3 pieces, having 1 pear per plate.
-Serve with chilled whipped cream.
(Serves: 6)

*It is important to use ripe pears, but not overly ripe, or it will turn out mushy.  I used ones that were too hard once and with the time allotted to bake, they just were too hard

**The first time I made this, it was for a dinner party.  Kind of scary since I made it up.  Everybody LOVED it!!

Enjoy.
